VME News - VME Uses Allen&Heath At Wakestock

Cheshire-based VME Ltd used a selection of Allen & Heath mixers for the sixth annual Wakestock festival, which took place this month in North Wales. With an increased capacity of 20,000 visitors and four arenas of top DJs and bands, Wakestock has become Europe's largest wakeboard music event. VME managed all of the festival's technical requirements, supplying Kling & Freitag speakers, Lab Gruppen amplifiers, Martin Professional Mac lighting fixtures, and a cross-section of Allen & Heath's live sound consoles and DJ mixers.

The Main Arena included live performances from the Ordinary Boys, the Undertones, Million Dead, the Bodyrockers and Thirteen Senses, whilst the Second Arena and Brouhaha Beach stages hosted DJ sets throughout the weekend from Tall Paul, Norman Jay, the Scratch Perverts, John '00' Fleming, and The Libertines's Carl Barat. Allen & Heath's compact multi-purpose MixWizards were employed as sub mixers on the stages, whilst Xone:62 DJ mixers were installed on stage for the DJ's. There was also a VIP tent where a further Xone:62 was installed.

New for this year's event was the Evolution Tent, hosting DJs on the first day - including a headline performance from established drum 'n bass duo, Ed Rush & Optical - and unsigned talent on the second day. An ML4000 VCA console was installed to manage FOH and monitor sound on both nights, with a Xone:62 installed for the DJs.

The Wakeboarding event comprised two major competitions - the Big Air Classic and Wakestock Pro - attracting contestants from all over the world. VME also provided the sound reinforcement for these events, held at a nearby marina and beach, selecting an Allen & Heath PA12-CP portable powered mixer to manage audio, and a Xone:62 DJ mixer for a live DJ entertaining the crowd in-between sessions.
